When employers lay off staff, they often wish to provide some
initial assistance and support to them in seeking employment elsewhere. P & A offers a
full range of outplacement counseling services for all levels of employees.
In outplacement counseling, P & A focuses on the importance of
tailoring services to suit both the specific objectives of the client employer who is
sponsoring the service, and the specific needs of the separated employee who is eligible
for the service. P & A makes every effort to plan an overall approach and specific
services that will be practical and productive for the employee, as well as affordable for
the client employer.
SPECIFIC SERVICES
- Advising client employers on how to most effectively handle the separation process for
employees to whom outplacement services will be offered
- Guiding individual service users through a basic four step job search process, tailored
to meet the individual's needs and circumstances:
- assessment of skills, accomplishments, interests, needs and values
- development of a career objective, resume and appropriate contacts; planning an overall
strategy for finding a new job, starting a business venture, or returning to school
- developing a specific job search plan that leads to job interviews
- weighing job options, evaluating opportunities, and gaining skills in salary negotiation
- Performing various liaison functions with area employers in researching potential job
openings and referring client candidates
- Providing each service user with a copy of P&A's comprehensive Job Search Workbook
