Palmer and Associates Employment Services is currently recruiting for the following positions:

ADMINISTRATIVE

PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER.  This small, well-established manufacturer of industrial products in Chittenden County is searching for an individual who will define, lead and deliver the company's vision and in so doing create sustainable earnings growth and sector leading ROCE. The successful candidate will be required to analyze the organization and then translate the organization's objectives into short, medium and longer-term deliverables. In addition to providing leadership and direction, the successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain a financially efficient operation that meets and exceeds its legislative obligations for people and the environment. An MBA is preferred, but a proven track record of determining strategies for leveraging the organization performance through its business solutions is key. Ten years experience in a rotating equipment manufacturing or service related business is required. Must be able to demonstrate the delivery of successful programs on time, on budget and on quality. Should have experience in senior sales and marketing or business leadership in a high capital costs business.

PROJECT MANAGER.  Our client, a steel fabrication business in Chittenden County Vermont, is looking for a manager who will have a key role in the success and operation of the company.  The Project Manager will be responsible for all record keeping connected with a job after a contract has been awarded.  This position will assist with the purchase of  major materials,  with price changes, and with AISC QA/AC requirements.  Organizing and attending jobsite meetings will be a major responsibility. This organized and motivated individual will work with detailers, General Contractors and Subs to determine the scope of a particular project and create the schedule to complete the job.  The ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form, to relate well to staff and client, and to manage time wisely in a sometimes stressful environment is paramount.  Familiarity with MS Office and Fabtrol software is desired. CUSTOMER SERVICE REP, Commercial Lines Insurance.  A well-established Insurance agency in the Burlington, VT area has an immediate need for an experienced commercial lines Customer Service Representative.  A strong background in administration and at least 3 years relative experience is required.

COMPUTER

IT ADMINISTRATOR.  This international manufacturer with multiple locations in the US has an immediate opening in Vermont for an IT Administrator. This position is responsible for selection and installation of PC server and workstation hardware. Will administer MS Exchange Server and Outlook client e-mail systems. Remote user support for connectivity, hardware and applications. Will administer Vantage ERP/Progress database. Will administer telephone, voicemail system and ISDN video. Should have experience in MS Windows Server 2003 and XP Pro. MS Exchange Server/Outlook Client, MS Office Suite, Vantage Enterprise Resource Planning, Crystal Reports and wireless networks.

ENGINEERING

SR. AUTOMATION TECHNICAL SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE.   Our client, a leader in the manufacture of highly technical instruments used for precision fabrication, is looking for a person who would be responsible for providing technical support over the phone and for diagnosing problems and recommending corrective actions.  In detail this employee would:  

-Provide telephone, fax and email technical support and troubleshooting of automated cutting systems.

-Diagnose faults and direct resolution within system hardware, power source system interface or CNC interface control software and hardware. 

-Provide input to design and engineering process.

-Maintain manual and electronic records.

-Follow ISO standards or policies.

Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering are preferred.   Candidates with an Associate's Degrees in technical education who have the ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, who are familiar with Advanced Microsoft Office skills, who have at  least three years of prior field experience in installation and trouble shooting of CNC controlled automated cutting systems are also invited to apply.

TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST/GAS APPARATUS.  This position will provide product, process and applications support in all areas of sales and customer relations for our clients’ distributor organization, end-users and corporate personnel. Responsibilities include assisting in the training of end users, distributors and company personnel on site and at company training centers, resolving technical questions from internal and external customers as required and assisting in the development of technical training programs and materials.  A Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in welding or metallurgical studies or equivalent knowledge and experience are required.  A full understanding of the oxy-fuel processes is required.  Strong public speaking and presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills are required.  Previous experience creating training documentation, call reports and assessments is required.  A basic level of proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Publisher, and other Microsoft applications is preferred  Willingness to travel is a must.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, MEDICAL.  As this Southern Vermont manufacturer continues to grow, it seeks a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in medical device manufacturing.  This key position will be responsible for providing engineering support in the concept, prototyping, clinical evaluation of new products for customer programs. Will assist business units during prototype development, lead product line development and implementation, define equipment and processes and lead process and tooling development efforts. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial). Must have at least two years related experience. Should have experience designing creative solutions, translating concepts into images, using feedback to modify changes and applying design principles. Must have project management experience and experience dealing with customer issues.

MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR.  Our client, an established industry leader, is looking for an individual whose key responsibility is to direct manufacturing activities and to ensure that operations are at top production while maintaining high quality standards.   The Manufacturing Supervisor will work to solve production, technical and timing problems and  to ensure efficiency, quality and completion of work.  Duties will include, scheduling and coordination of production jobs to comply with customer and company schedules.  Developing and providing education to improve employee performance will be important to the success of this position.  A BS in Mechanical Engineering  and 8+ years of manufacturing experience are preferred.  

TECHNICAL SERVICE SUPPORT I.   Our client, a Vermont manufacturer, is looking for a service coordinator who will be responsible for service schedules for the maintenance of equipment at customer sites.  This position will troubleshoot and provide direction by communicating directly with customers on service calls and warranty related issues.  Candidates should have at least three years of manufacturing and/or machining experience and a BS or AS in Mechanical or Materials Engineering.

TECHNICAL SERVICE SUPPORT II.   This position is responsible for the on-going coordination and management of service projects in an assigned market area. Specific responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining service schedules, working with an Applications Engineer on related service issues (with an eye to controlling spending), developing new guidelines of service if required and keeping documentation on all service projects.  Candidates should have a BS or AS in Mechanical or Materials Engineering and at least three years of experience in a manufacturing and/or machining environment.

METALS PROGRAM MANAGER.   A recognized leader in the plastics and sheet metal fabrication industries, located in rural, Southern Vermont is seeking candidates with the following experience and abilities.  Candidates  who  have designed new manufacturing lines and established procedures, instructions and training to support the new lines are desired.  Experience should include having established and implemented quality specifications and testing criteria for metal components, supplier components, subassemblies and finished goods.  The successful candidate for the Metals Program Manager position will generate creative solutions and translate concepts and information into images, will develop project plans, coordinate projects and communicate changes and progress.  This position will look for ways to improve and promote quality.  The ability to interact with customers to identify process/product improvements and to ensure complete customer satisfaction is key.  Also key is the ability to identify improvements to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations as well as UL, FDA, and ISO 9001 requirements.  A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering is required plus one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PROGRAM ENGINEER.   Our client, a manufacturer of injection molded plastic parts and assemblies in southern Vermont, has an immediate need for a Program Engineer who will report to the Plant Manager.  This position is responsible for evaluating the quality of sheet metal, injection molded parts and/or manufactured products created according to customer specifications.  Responsibilities also include providing engineering support during production, developing written quality programs, DVQR’s and new product inspection techniques.  The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between company departments and customers addressing quality standards and specifications.  A BS degree in Engineering or a technical field is required as well as two years of experience in quality and manufacturing or project engineering.

FINANCE

FIXED INCOME AND STABLE VALUE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST.  Our client, a leading provider of fixed-income investment management services is seeking an Operations Specialist to perform Trade Processing, field incoming dealer calls, provide support and answer questions from portfolio management, perform investment accounting functions and maintain composite performance data.  To be considered, candidates must have the following experience: MS Word,  MS Exel, PAM/State Street, Impromptu Report Writer, ACT!, Bloomberg, OMGEO/DTC, RASS, Salomon Yield Book.  Candidates must also have a BA or BS degree and strong verbal and written communication skills and must have a working knowledge of fixed income management.   

GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT.  This international manufacturing company with multiple US locations, has an immediate need for a General Ledger Accountant. Candidates should have a BS degree...though an Associates degree will be considered depending on years of experience. Must be proficient in a variety of accounting functions including: preparation of financial statements, account reconciliation, fixed asset reporting and preparation of year-end tax work papers. Should have experience with job costing and with MRP/ERP software system.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Accounting though an Associates degree will be considered depending on years of experience.

MANUFACTURING

PLANT SUPERVISOR – 3rd Shift.      A nationally known manufacturer of award winning food products located near the Barre - Montpelier region of Vermont is looking for candidates with at least 3 years of supervisory experience in the food packaging lines industry.  This 3rd shift position (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday) will be responsible for the efficient operation of the plant, for conducting appraisals and setting goals for 3rd shift employees and for maintaining sanitary conditions which meet state, federal and company regulatory standards.  Keeping accurate records for all product leaving the plant is a crucial component of the position as well as establishing a team environment by interacting and problem solving with employees and other supervisors.  A B.S. degree is required or equivalent education and work experience.  The successful candidate will have a good mechanical aptitude and strong math and analytical skills.  The ability to communicate well orally and in writing are key requirements as well as the proven ability to build an effective team.

MACHINIST.   The responsibilities of this position in Chittenden County in Vermont, include the preparation and operation of CNC machine tools for machining operations.  Candidates should have apprentice or work experience setting up jig bore, gundrill, horizontal milling, turning, vertical milling, and ID/OD grinding machines for precision work.  Candidates who can read blueprints with both imperial and metric notation and who have EDM machining experience would be preferred.  The successful candidate will need to be able to work any shift and lift heavy loads of at least 35 lbs.
